#1 The Sharks have now lost nine of their last ten games and play back to back games at SAP Center starting Friday and Saturday nights against the Kings and Flyers it’s been a load for new head coach Bob Boughner.

#2 The Sharks lost last weekend on Friday and Saturday back to back Friday to the Blues 5-2 and Saturday to the Knights 3-1 it was a challenge trying to turn it around.

#3 Talking about the Sharks last loss to Vegas the Sharks had the fewest goals with 19 of any NHL team in December it’s a distinction that the Sharks don’t want.

#4 Sharks captain Logan Couture said the Sharks are finding new ways to lose games before there were the shootouts and overtime but now they’re losing in the last ten minutes of games.

#5 The Los Angeles Kings and Sharks face off at 7:30p Friday night how the Sharks no doubt have a lot of work cut out for them Len sets this one up for us.

#1 The shocking diagnosis of 23 year old left winger Philadelphia Flyer Oskar Lindblom has been diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma a rare cancer that grows in soft tissue and on the bones. Lindblom will be out for the rest of the season and will undergo surgery, chemotherapy and radiation.

#2 The Vegas Golden Knights’ Max Pacioretty scored a backhanded goal with 51 seconds in overtime to get the Knights an overtime victory over the Dallas Stars on Friday night in Dallas.

#3 The Colorado Avalanche got a two-goal victory over the New Jersey Devils on Friday 3-1, Nathan McKinnon scored a goal and picked up an assist to get his 50th point of the season.

#4 The Boston Bruins will try and snap their five-game losing streak tonight at the BB&T Center in Sunrise tonight against the Florida Panthers. You don’t see the Bruins hit a five-game slump too often.

#5 The Vancouver Canucks are headed to SAP Center. They’re one team in the Pacific Division that would like to take advantage of the San Jose Sharks current six-game winless streak. Matt tells us how he sees this game.

#1 There’s one way to fire up the Montreal Canadiens. That’s to watch the Washington Capitals’ Alex Ovechkin try and take out the Habs’ Jonathan Drouin, who ended up seeing stars after an Ovechkin hit. The Canadiens regrouped, came out and scored four goals in the second period in their 5-2 win over the Caps.

#2 Brad Marchand scored twice in the third period as the visiting Boston Bruins beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-2. The Bruins’ Charlie Coyle and Zdeno Chara also scored goals for Boston.

#3 New Jersey’s MacKenzie Blackwood was all the difference in goal as the Devils goaltender stopped 38 shots in New Jersey’s win over the Pittsburgh Penguins 2-1. The Pens played without their offensive star Sidney Crosby.

#4 The Ottawa Senators’ Filip Chlapik got a second period goal and goalie Anders Nilsson stopped 26 shots for the Sens in their 2-1 trimming of the Philadelphia Flyers. The Senators were able to kill off four-minute power play late in the game.

#5 The Columbus Blue Jackets’ Zach Werenski got an overtime goal at 3:34 as the Blue Jackets picked up a win over the St. Louis Blues 3-2. Vladislav Gavrikov scored his first NHL goal for the Jackets.

#1 The Vancouver Canucks, who face the San Jose Sharks tonight at SAP Center, had won five straight, but snapped their streak by a goal 2-1 to the Anaheim Ducks on Friday night. The Sharks, on the other hand, are a struggling bunch who have four straight, but are back on home ice. Matt tells us how he sees this matchup.

#2 Speaking of streaks, the New York Islanders topped the Tampa Bay Lightning for the Isles’ eighth straight win 5-3. The Isles got goals from Matthew Barzal (6), Ryan Pulock (2), Josh Baily (5), Anders Lee (5), Derrick Brassard (4).

#3 The Philadelphia Flyers got by the New Jersey Devils 4-3. The Flyers got scoring from Oskar Lindblom (7), Sean Couturier (3), Joel Farabee (11). Flyers won in a shootout.

#4 The Washington Caps won by a convincing five goals 6-1. The Caps scored four times in the first period against the Buffalo Sabres in a period that pretty much established the game. The Caps’ Jakub Vrana scored twice in the first period.

#5 The Carolina Hurricanes got four goals in the second period that pretty much put a lock on the Detroit Red Wings with a 7-3 win. In that second period, the Canes got goals from Sebastian Aho, who scored twice; Nino Niederreiter; and Martin Necas.

On the SJ Sharks podcast with Mary Lisa:

#1 Joe Thornton plans to resign with the Sharks for the 2019-20 season he’s almost 40 had some injuries in past season can you see him entering September and keeping up with the younger players?

#2 Thornton’s plans are to stay with San Jose and he hopes to keep this up for at least five more years if he could he stay healthy.

#3 Thornton has had knee injuries he tore his ALC and MLC in his left knee in 2017 and last season tore his MCL in his right knee in 2018. Thornton in confident he’s back and there are no issues going into next season.

#4 The Philadelphia Flyers will absorb the $3.8 million that former San Jose Shark defenseman Justin Braun had remaining on his contract. Braun was dealt for draft picks Mary talks about how Braun will fit into the Flyers system.

#5 The biggest move was on Tuesday when the Sharks signed Erik Karlsson for a $92 million eight year deal. Karlsson after the post season was expected to go shopping for a team most likely the Ottawa Senators his former team. The Sharks were determined to keep him and got him to the table for a long term deal.

#2 The New York Islanders got a 2-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens as the Isles’ Adam Pelech (5) and Anders Lee (25) scored for New York.

#3 The Washington Capitals’ Brett Connolly scored two goals–#18 and #19–to help lead the Caps in a 5-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers.

#4 The Ottawa Senators got a 2-0 win over the St. Louis Blues. The Sens got goals from Christian Wolanin (4) and Chris Tierney (9). Jake Allen started in goal for the shutout for Senators.

#5 The red-hot Tampa Bay Lighting (54-13-4) defeated the Detroit Red Wings 5-3. The Bolts’ Nikita Kucherov scored twice for #34 and #35 of the season.
