Binnington got hurt during game 3 when teammate Calle Rosen and Aves Nazem Kadri knocked Binnington over. How is the loss of Binnington going to impact the Blues the rest of the second round?

#2 Also Colorado’s Samuel Girard is out for the rest of the playoffs with a broken sternum in game 3 in the first period at 1:42 on Saturday he was checked hard by the Blues Ivan Barbashev.

#3  In the battle of Florida The Tampa Bay Lightning are in the driver’s seat with the series lead 3-0 and their getting some great scoring not to mention great goaltending from Andrei Vasilevskiy in their game 3 win today 5-1.

#4 The Carolina Hurricanes lead the series 2-1 against the New York Rangers and played game 3 today at Madison Square Garden. The Rangers won a crucial game 3-1 how did home ice pay off for the Rangers today?

#5 The Calgary Flames and the Edmonton Oilers are battling it out in Edmonton the Flames had Oilers came back on the Flames in game 1 only to lose the lead 9-6. The Oilers bounced back in game 2 with a 5-2 win and goaltender Mike Smith stopped 37 shots.

#1 One thing you can say about the Tampa Bay Lightning their like a boom a rang just was soon as you thought they were done they come back.

#2 The Bolts got help from one player who did all the work Nicholas Paul who scored twice that was all Tampa Bay need to eliminate the Toronto Maple Leafs four games to three in the best of four out of seven in a 2-1 game seven win to advance.

#3 The Carolina Hurricane’s Max Domi had a pair of goals and an assist which help defeat the Boston Bruins 3-2 in Carolina. It was a series where the home team won each of the games as the Canes won the series 4-3.

#4 Rounding off Saturday night’s action the Edmonton Oilers shutout the Los Angeles Kings in game 7 in Edmonton 2-0. Oilers goalie Mike Smith stopped all 29 Kings shots for the win.

#5 The Oilers Connor McDavid and Cody Ceci scored a goal a piece both goals turned out to be critical for the Edmonton win.

#6 Evander Kane has been a big value for the Oilers in the regular season and in the playoff push, in hindsight do you think the San Jose Sharks who put him up for free agency might be thinking that they made a mistake letting Kane get away?

#1 The Dallas Stars Joe Pavelski scored twice to break ties in two consecutive playoff games against the Calgary Flames. Pavelski has been very instrumental in helping the Stars and in particular on Saturday in game 3 as the Stars go up 2-1.

#2 The Edmonton Oilers lead the Los Angeles Kings 2-1 and their two wins came after two defining victories 6-0 in game two on Wednesday and game three 8-2 on Friday. Both teams meet up again for game three on Monday night.

#3 One of the big games Saturday the Washington Capitals in game 3 gained on the Florida Panthers going up 2-1 in the series with a 6-1 win on Saturday. The Caps goal scoring help from Alex Ovechkin who scored his first goal of the playoffs.

#4 The Colorado Avalanche went up on the Nashville Predators 3-0 with a convincing 7-3 win in game 3. The Aves have a shot at sweeping this series on Monday night. The Aves Gabriel Landeskog scored twice with two assists.

#5 The Pittsburgh Penguins took a 2-1 lead on the New York Rangers as the Pens Damon Heimen got the go ahead goal at 11:02 in the third period. The Pens got the three goal win 7-4 win at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh.

#1 The Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Antti Raanta stopped 35 shots as the Hurricanes won game 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Boston Bruins 5-1 in the Eastern Conference first round in Pittsburgh’s PNC Arena. It was Ranata’s first NHL playoff game.

#2 The Toronto Maple Leafs let themselves be know in game 1 of the first round of the playoffs with a 5-0 shutout over the Tampa Bay Lightning at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. Austin Matthews scored twice for Toronto. The Leafs Mitchell Marner scored a goal and had two assists and goaltender Jack Campbell stopped 23 shots.

#3 Len, talk about the St Louis Blues who blanked the Minnesota Wild. The Blues were 13-1-1 since 2019-20 season. They really have the Wild’s number. Dave Peron had a hat trick and the Wild had six power play attempts and they did not score. Ville Hasso in goal for St Louis faced 37 shots and stopped all of them for the shutout.

#4 The Nashville Predators Juuse Saros will sit out for games 1 and 2 against the Colorado Avalanche because of a lower body injury. Saros missed the last two games of the regular season for the Predators how much will the Preds miss Saros out of the line up.

#5 After suffering an upper body injury and missing three games the Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin is on the radar to play in game 1 in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs against the Florida Panthers.

#1 The Detroit Red Wings have announced they will not renew head coach Jeff Blashill’s contract, Blashill was the second longest running head coach in the NHL his downfall most likely was the Red Wings had not made it to the post season in six seasons.

#2 The Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price is seeking a second opinion on his surgically repaired knee. Price might have to consider retirement and he last played on Friday night against a mighty Florida Panthers team at the Bell Centre in a 10-2 laugher. Price was key in the contest stopping 37 shots and allowing two goals. Does Price have enough in the tank to return next season for the Canadiens?

#3 Len four playoff games scheduled for Monday night we’ll take them one at a time the first one, the Boston Bruins who are coming off a season ending loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-2 and the Carolina Hurricanes finished the regular season winning six straight games.

#4 The Tampa Bay Lightning always a favorite to win the Stanley Cup Final will go up against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Tampa Bay drilled the New York Islanders on Friday 6-4. The Lightning finished the season winning five of their last six games. The Leafs won three straight to end the season taking out the Boston Bruins on Friday 5-2. The series opens in Toronto with the Lightning and Leafs.

#5 The St Louis Blues and Minnesota Wild will open up their best of seven series at Target Arena tonight. The Blues had a eight game winning streak between April 2 to 17th. The Blues have had quiet a season going 49-22-11. For the Minnesota Wild a great closing to their regular season winning seven of their last eight games with a 4-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche this series could be one for the ages the way these two teams have battled.

#6 The Los Angeles Kings will be battling the Edmonton Oilers in the first round of their playoff series which opens up at Rogers Place in Edmonton tonight. The Kings have won five of their last six games to end the 2021-22 season going 44-27-11. The Oilers won six of their last eight to close out the season and were 49-27-6. Len how do you see these two teams matching up for Monday night.

#2 Len talk about the job between the pipes by Leafs goalie Jack Campbell shutting out the Habs and facing 32 shots. How much of this game did Campbell have to stand on his head.

#3 The Canadiens simply couldn’t get the puck in the back end of the net with the kind of offense they have with players like Joel Armia and Nick Suzuki how surprising was it to see Montreal get shutout like this?

#4 Nashville Predators (2-3) @ Carolina Hurricanes (3-2) game 5 was a close as you can get out of a playoff game as the Carolina Hurricanes who were down 2-1 came back to tie the game in the third period got a overtime win to take a 3-2 lead in the series.

#5 Len talk about the Cane’s Jordan Staal’s overtime score past Preds goaltender Juuse Saros, Staal took a swing at the puck that ricocheted off Saros and got the biscuit in the basket for the win. By the way the game ended at 11:45pm east coast time.

#1 Len, just an amazing career for the Washington Capitals’ Alexander Ovechkin. who scored an overtime goal on Saturday night at Capital One Arena to beat the Boston Bruins 4-3. The goal also put Ovechkin in seventh place on the all-time NHL goal list at 708.

#2 You can’t push the Montreal Canadiens around too much. The Habs have lost in a regulation all season until Saturday night against the Calgary Flames. The Flames, who won 2-0, did it with the help of goaltender Jacob Markstrom, who stopped 37 saves. The Canadiens just couldn’t find the back of the net all game long.

#3  If you like the numbers 4 and 1, this was your game. The Dallas Stars (4-1-0) met their match on Saturday losing for the first time this season to the Carolina Hurricanes (4-1-0) 4-1. The Hurricanes got scoring help from Vincent Trocheck, who scored twice.

#4 The Edmonton Oilers’ Leon Draisaitl passed a tipped in pass to Conner McDavid, who scored one of two. McDavid scores as the Oilers came away with a 4-3 win against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Hockey Night in Canada. Oilers goaltender Mikko Koskinen stopped 26 Leafs shots.

#5 Sidney Crosby scored the winning goal in overtime at 2:27 for the Pittsburgh Penguins for a 5-4 win over the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden in New York. The Pens’ Pierre-Oliver Joseph had three assists in the effort. One piece of bad news for the Penguins: They lost defenceman Kris Letang in the first period at 10:37 for the rest of the game.

#1 The St Louis Blues (3-1-1) got a two goal win over the Los Angeles Kings (1-2-2) 4-2 on Saturday night. The Blues got scoring from Torey Krug (1), Vince Dunn (1), David Perron (1), and Jayden Schwartz (1).  Blues goalie Jordan Binnington stopped 21 LA shots and allowed two goals.

#2 The Boston Bruins (3-1-1) had the offense scoring two goals in the second period and three goals in the third period to get a 6-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers. The Bruins Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand each scored two goals.

#3 The Montreal Canadiens (4-0-2) lead for most of the game 2-0. The Habs scored three goals in the third period as the Vancouver Canucks scored two in the third for the 5-2 win. The Canadiens goalie Carey Price allowed two goals and stopped 23 shots.

#4 The Columbus Blue Jackets (2-2-2) got a 5-2 win over one of the best teams in the NHL over the Tampa Bay Lightning (3-1-0). The Jackets jumped to a 3-2 in  the first period and scored two goals in the third period.

#5 The game between the Florida Panthers and Hurricanes was canceled due to a lack of available players on the Hurricanes due to Covid-19 related issues. The Canes were missing five players key forwards Jordan Staal, Teuvo Teravainen, top defencemen Jacob Slavin also forwards Warren Foegele and Jordan Martinook.

#1 The New Jersey Devils and the Boston Bruins played to a 2-1 overtime with New Jersey coming out the winner. New Jersey got on the board first when Miles Woods scored at 16:15 in the first period. The Bruins Patrice Bergeron tied the game in the second period at 17:16 with his second goal of the year. Jersey’s Yegor Sharangovich scored the overtime goal for the win at 4:58.

#2 The Arizona Coyotes after losing to the San Jose Sharks on opening night Thursday got a 5-3 win on Saturday despite the Sharks Timo Meier who scored a hat trick and all of San Jose’s goals. The Yotes Phil Kessel scored twice in the three goal win for Arizona.

#3 The Montreal Canadiens got a huge four goal win over the Edmonton Oilers 5-1 on Saturday night. The Habs got scoring from Jeff Petry and Tomas Tatar who both scored twice. Jake Evan scored a short handed goal.

#4 The New York Rangers got a 5-0 shutout over the New York Islanders at Madison Square Garden on Saturday. The Rangers got scoring help from Pavel Buchnevich and Artemi Panarin who scored twice and Kappo Kakko scored one goal for the win. Ranger goaltender Alexandar Georgiev faced 23 shots for the shutout.

#5 The Detroit Red Wings got a two goal win against the Carolina Hurricanes 4-2. The Wings got scoring from Dylan Larkin who scored twice, Bobby Ryan, and Robby Fabbri score a goal each.

#1 Len, six Dallas Stars players and two staff members have tested positive for Covid-19 forcing both opening games on Jan 14th and 15th back to back games to be postponed and that the Stars facilities were closed and will not be projected open any earlier than Jan 19th.

#2 Len, New Jersey Devils 36 year old goaltender Corey Crawford has requested to take an indefinite leave. Crawford did practice with the team on Dec 31 and Jan 1st before asking for two more days off including Friday making it three days off. Crawford reportedly is taking the indefinite time off due to personal reasons.

#3 The Columbus Blue Jackets said on Friday that 19 players missed practice on because of Covid 19 protocol issues and the Jackets said this was done of caution. Jackets head coach John Tortorella said out of 40 healthy players 21 skated Friday morning.

#4 Washington Capitals goalie Hendrik Lundqvist is recovering from open heart surgery and Lundqvist’s recovery is coming along well, “”Day three surgery went really well, about five hours to get it all taken care of. Really appreciate the great staff here at the Cleveland Clinic.” said Lundqvist.

#5 Pittsburgh Penguins broadcaster Mike Lange will not start the 2021 season until a successful vaccine is ready. Lange who has broadcasted the Penguins for 46 years is 72 years old and said he wants to wait until the vaccine is distributed before coming back.
