On the NCAAF podcast with Michelle Richardson:

#1 Hawaii head coach Todd Graham had resigned from his post after it was reported that Graham had been accused of being disrespectful and abusive to past and current players on the team. It was also reported that several current players were leaving the program and that Hawaii had their bowl game canceled due to a Covid 19 outbreak.

#2 Safety Lewis Cine, LB Nakobe Dean, WR George Pickens, OL Jamaree Salyer and DL Travon Walker running backs Zamir White and James Cook are all leaving the Georgia Bulldogs program to join the 2022 NFL draft. The players were key in helping the Bulldogs beat the Alabama Crimson Tide in the National Title.

#3 The UCLA Bruins have extended the contract of head coach Chip Kelly, Kelly who was in the last year of his contract got a four year extension. Kelly and the Bruins went 8-4 in the 2021 season and they were set to meet NC State in the Holiday Bowl but the game was scratched due to Covid 19 outbreaks amongst the Bruins players.

On the NCAAF podcast with Michelle:

#1 There were no shortages of awards for NCAAF coaches this week. Michigan Wolverine’s head coach Jim Harbaugh who led Michigan to a College Football Playoff birth and a Big Ten title for the first time in 17 years was awarded the Associated Press college football coach of the year.

#2 The Utah Utes head coach Kyle Whittingham was named the Pac 12 coach of the year. Whittingham led the Utes to the Rose Bowl and had no problems defeating the Oregon Ducks in the Pac 12 Championship in Las Vegas last week.

#3 Former Oakland Raiders head coach Hue Jackson was named head coach at Grambling, Jackson was head coach at Tennessee State and fills the job opening after Grambling fired Broderick Fobbs in November.

NCAAF podcast with Michelle Richardson: Michigan gets by Penn State; New Mexico St gets clobbered by Alabama; Cincinnati stays perfect

On the NCAAF podcast with Michelle:

#1 No.6 Michigan Wolverines (9-1) keep rolling this time they bested the Penn State (6-4) Nittany Lions 21-17.Michigan quarterback Cade McNamara was 19-29 for 217 yards, and three touchdowns. Good defense by the Wolverines held the Nittany Lions to two field goals in the first half while they scored a touchdown in each of the second, third, and fourth quarters.

#2 There was no mercy rule for the New Mexico State Aggies (1-9) who got crushed by the Alabama Crimson Tide (9-1) 59-3. The Aggies only bright spot in this one was they were able to shutout Alabama in the third quarter. The Crimson Tide used four passers in the game. Starter Bryce Young went 21-23 for 270 yards and five touchdowns.

#3 The No.5 Cincinnati Bearcats (10-0) maintained their perfect record taking to the South Florida Bulls (2-8) 45-28. The Bearcats kept pouring it on with 17 points in the second quarter and 14 points in the fourth quarter. Bearcats quarterback Desmond Ridder went 31-39 for 304 yards and two touchdowns.

NCAA Football podcast with Michelle:

#1 Michelle, No.2 Georgia Bulldogs (5-0) continue to roll and got a crushing 37-0 victory over the No. 8 Arkansas Razorbacks (4-1) on Saturday. It was the Razorbacks first defeat of the season and Bulldogs quarterback Stetson Bennett relied mostly on his running backs to score throwing 7-11 for only 72 yards.

#2 Michelle, Stanford Cardinal (3-2) got the best of Oregon Ducks (4-1) on Saturday with a 31-24 overtime win at Stanford Stadium, Stanford quarterback Tanner McKee threw for 230 yards and three touchdowns.

#3 Michelle, talk about ABC Newsman, NFL Fox analyst, and former New York Giant Michael Strahan donating funds to pay for helmets for Texas Southern. Texas Southern broke in the new helmets vs. North American University in Saturday’s game.

On the NCAA Football podcast with Michelle:

#1 The Alabama Crimson Tide No.1 (4-0) remain perfect with a landslide victory over the Southern Miss Golden Eagles (1-3) 63-14. The Tide used three quarterbacks and starting quarterback Bryce Young threw for five touchdowns and 313 yards for the Tide’s fourth straight win.

#2 The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (2-2) blew out the North Carolina Tar Heels (2-2). The Jackets came right out in the second quarter with 14 points in the third quarter and 18 points. In the third quarter for a 45-22 win. Jackets quarterback Jeff Sims 10-13, 112 yards and one touchdown.

#3 The Ohio State Buckeyes (3-1) blew out the Akron Zips (1-3) at Ohio State Saturday 59-7. The Buckeyes led at the half and never looked back 38-7. The Zips only score was in the first quarter. Ohio State starting Kyle McCord quarterback threw for 319 yards and two touchdowns.

#1 Number 3 Oklahoma Sooners defeated the Nebraska Cornhuskers 23-16 on Saturday. The Sooners just got by the Cornhuskers in the first quarter the Sooners outscored the Cornhuskers 7-3 after that the Cornhuskers matched the Sooners in the second quarter a 0-0 shutout, in the third quarter the Sooners outscoring the Cornhuskers 9-6 and in the four quarter a 7-7 score.

#2 Michelle how shocked were you to see #1 Michigan State Spartans defeat #2 Miami Hurricanes 38-17. The Spartans quarterback Payton Thorne was 18-31 for 261 yards and threw a lot of touchdowns four of them in the win.

#3 No.1 Alabama Crimson Tide defeated No.11 the Florida Gators 31-29 in a close contest. The Gators scored six in the fourth quarter but came up short by two to tie it and the Crimson Tide remain perfect at 3-0. Alabama quarterback Bryce Young went 22 for 35 for 233 yards and three touchdowns.

On the NCAAF podcast with Michelle:

#1 Former NFL great and Hall of Famer and current head coach at Jackson State Deion Sanders insists that everyone call him coach that includes media, alumni, fans, and especially his players. Sanders said that doctors, nurses, and other have earned their title and so has he. Sanders even walked out on a media scrum when a reporter who refused to to address him as coach. Is Sanders correct on insisting that he be called coach?

#2 Michelle, how surprising is it that the Ohio State Buckeyes ranked #3 lost to #12 Oregon 35-28. The Ducks quarterback Anthony Brown threw 17 for 35 for 236 yards and two touchdowns. The Ducks scored for 14 points in each of the second and third quarters and the Buckeyes just couldn’t get any offense going.

#3 For Michigan State Spartans (2-0) no contest on Saturday as they upended Youngstown State Penguins (1-1) 42-14. The Spartans quarterback Payton Thorne was throwing all day the only time he got any rest was when his back up Anthony Russo came in at the end of the game to give him a rest. Thorne was 15 for 21 for 280 yards and had four touchdowns.

NCAA Football podcast with Michelle Richardson: Oklahoma and Penn State in close game wins; Kiffin test positive in breakthrough case

On the NCAA Football podcast with Michelle:

#1 Close game on Saturday Michelle as the Oklahoma Sooners just got by the Tulane Green Wave 40-35. It was a contest both schools were tied after the first quarter 14-14 but the Sooners broke it wide open with 23 points in the second quarter for a 37-14 lead. The Green Wave defense held the Sooners just to a field goal in the second half but fell short for a win.

#2 The Penn State Nittany Lions defense held back the Wisconsin Badgers 16-10 it was all defense in the first half as the score was 0-0 at the half. Third quarter each team scored seven for a 7-7 tie. Fourth quarter the Nittany Lions would score 9 to the Badgers 3 for the win. Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford threw for 247 yards and one touchdown.

#3 University of Mississippi head coach Lane Kiffin test positive for Coronavirus and will not coach on Monday against Louisville in Atlanta. Kiffin who is vaccinated tested positive is experiencing mild symptoms and said he is thankful that he is vaccinated. Kiffin said no other players and coaches tested positive.

#1 The women’s game between Iowa No.6 and Maryland No.1 was a cliffhanger. Iowa lost to Maryland 104-84. The Terrapins Chloe Bibby was top scorer with 21 points.

#2 The Baylor lady Bears No.1 got a big win over the Texas Longhorns No.5 66-55. The leading scorer for the Bears NaLyssa Smith led Baylor with 21 points.

#3 West Virginia women defeated Oklahoma State 59-50. West Virginia’s Esmery Martinez led the way in scoring with 19 points followed up by Kysre Gondrezick with 17 points.

NCAA basketball podcast with Michelle Richardson: Indiana University says mascot, logo and name have to go; Ex-Rugters player arrested for murder; plus more

On the NCAA basketball podcast with Michelle:

#1 Michelle, Indiana University Valparaiso said it’s changing the name from Crusaders to something else. The University is made up of Lutherans and the student president Kaitlyn Stienhiser said the Crusader name doesn’t represent the core values of the university and that logos, the nickname, the mascot will all have to go.

#2 Former Rutgers Scarlet Knights basketball player Logan Kelly 26 was arrested for murder. Kelly is accused of slashing a Tijuana night club employee’s throat. Kelly had walked up behind the employee and killed the woman. He was detained by club employees and arrested. The woman was 19 years old. Kelly played for Rutgers during the 2012-2013 season.

#3 NAIA school Bluefield College in Virginia had it’s game forfeited by the university’s president David Olive because the players were taking a knee during the national anthem. Olive who is white ordered the players to stop taking a knee before the anthem and suspended all players involved in the kneeling saying they were disrespecting the flag, the country and the military veterans.  Olive said he supported their message but didn’t want them taking a knee before games. There could be some political blow back for Olive here.
