San Francisco 49ers podcast with Marko Ukalovic: Could Santa Clara election turn control over to the 49ers?

San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York meets with the media back on Jan 24, 2020 during Super Bowl 54. York has reportedly spent over $3.8 million for the Nov 8th, 2022 Santa Clara Mayoral and City Council election (AP News file photo)

On the 49ers podcast with Marko:

#1 Reports say that the Santa Clara election on Nov 8th could be politically influenced by 49ers CEO Jed York who contributed to the campaign fund donating over $3.8 million through it’s sports franchises and related entities towards electing a new mayor Anthony Becker and five city council members after the York and 49ers had been hounded about paying stadium management revenues to the city over the last few years. The Niners settled with the city for $1.6 million.

#2 The City Council voted to settle the stadium management debt that the 49ers owed Santa Clara but not without much rancor as in that city council meeting Becker was reportedly shouting and cussing at Santa Clara Mayor Lisa Gillmor and city Councilwoman Kathy Watanabe causing them to call a policeman to stand in the meeting chambers for the rest of the meeting.

#3 After learning these reports Marko, how concerned are Santa Clara residents going into this election and could they be concerned that the Mayoral and city council races are heavily influenced by the 49ers and it could go the other way re-electing Gillmor because residents are afraid that the 49ers would have control on the city leadership?

#4 To this week’s action on the field Sunday’s win in Los Angeles over the Rams 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo went to work in the second half after the 49ers were down by four points at half.

#5 The Los Angeles Chargers (4-3) head to Santa Clara for Sunday Night Football on Nov 13th a 5:20 pm kickoff at Levi Stadium. The Chargers have won three of their last four games. How do you see this match up this Sunday night.

San Francisco 49ers podcast with David Zizmor: How Williams injury will impact the 49ers offensive line; Garoppolo hoping to have breakout game after Denver loss

San Francisco 49ers offensive tackle Trent Williams (71) gets assisted off the field by the 49ers medical staff in the first half during Sunday Night Football on Sep 25, 2022 and will be out from 4-6 weeks due to an high ankle injury. He will miss his first game on Monday Night Football Oct 3, 2022 against the Los Angeles Rams at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara (AP News file photo)

On the 49ers podcast with David:

#1 David, talk about the loss of offensive tackle Trent Williams who will be out from four to six weeks with a high ankle sprain.

#2 One thing that 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan is trying to prevent is putting Williams on the injured reserve because NFL rules allow only eight players per season and are allowed to return after missing at least four weeks.

#3 After losing quarterback Trey Lance for the rest of the season and taking a 11-10 loss to the Denver Broncos last Sunday. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was coming off stepping in for Lance and leading the 49ers to a win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sep 18th but things went sideways for Garoppolo and the 49ers in their game at home against the Denver Broncos on Sun 25th.

San Francisco 49ers podcast with Joe Hawkes: Lance has nothing but good things to say about Garoppolo

San Francisco 49ers who met with the news media this week said that he had nothing but good things to say about former starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (San Francisco Chronicle file photo)

On the 49ers podcast with J Hawkes:

#1 San Francisco 49ers quarterback Trey Lance said there is nothing weird about saying that he can only say nothing but good things about 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo who guided and mentored Lance when he first came to the 49ers.

#2 Lance said that Garoppolo could have made it hell for him when he first got the Niners but he didn’t and he helped Lance out with everything.

#3 Garoppolo is not going to be released by the 49ers but the 49ers are still shopping Garoppolo. The Miami Dolphins have showed interest in Garoppolo. The best time is to trade now.

#4 Joe, talk about linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair who had off season surgeries on his left knee and left elbow. Al-Shaair said that his knee surgery recovery is not as bad as recovery from the elbow surgery.

#5 Yes it’s only pre season but it means a lot to a lot of people everywhere when the Green Bay Packers come calling on Fri Aug 12 against the 49ers at Levi Stadium. How much will you see of Aaron Rogers and Trey Lance in that one?

San Francisco 49ers podcast with Joe Hawkes: Is Jimmy G coming back or will he be finished with San Francisco?

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (10) tries to get out of the way of getting caught from his right side by the Tennessee Titans at Nissan Stadium in Nashville on Thu Dec 23, 2021 (AP News photo)

On the 49ers podcast with J Hawkes:

#1 After the thumb injury sustained in Tennessee during Thursday Night Football on Dec 23 and some of the criticism you hear from the media that he could be through with the San Francisco 49ers (8-7) what is your reaction from that.

#2 Head coach Kyle Shanahan sounded quite the opposite when speaking to the media on Wednesday saying that Garoppolo has a thumb sprain might just be able to get back in the starting line up for Sunday’s game.

#3 Meanwhile back up quarterback Trey Lance back on Oct 10th while playing in Arizona against the Cardinals had suffered a knee injury and what is reported severe damaged vocal cords (from audibles on the practice squad) is close to being named the starting quarterback this Sunday.

#4 Some of the football analysts and journalist have said that it is time for Lance to take over the reigns of starting quarterback and after Garoppolo’s performance against the Titans that pretty much suffices that. If true is Lance ready being a rookie for such a big role.

#5 The 49ers have won five of their last seven games, lost a tough game to the Titans in their last outing and host a Houston Texans (4-11) who have won their last two games. How do you see this match up Sunday at Levi Stadium this Sunday.

San Francisco 49ers podcast with David Zizmor: Roster moves made; Montana says Jones is the better choice than Lance; plus more

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Trey Lance (5) tries to skirt around Arizona Cardinal free safety Jalen Thompson (34) during Sun Oct 10, 2021 game at State Farm Stadium. Former 49ers quarterback Joe Montana said that New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones would have been a better pick than Lance. (AP News photo file)

On the 49ers podcast with David:

#1 Tuesday was a busy day at the San Francisco offices at the Marie DeBartolo Complex in Santa Clara as the 49ers (3-4) have made some roster moves as follows, acquired defenseman Charles Omenihu, linebacker Tyrell Williams released, kicker Joey Slye wavied, and safety Kai Nacua has been moved to the practice squad.

#2 Dave, former San Francisco 49ers quarterback and legend Joe Montana said he would have taken the New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones over 49ers back up Trey Lance. Jones so far this season is piling up on the yards at 1,997, nine touchdowns, six interceptions, for Lance 354 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception this season. Where do you stand on Montana’s choice of quarterbacks?

#3 Dave after losing four straight and going into Chicago with a 33-22 win has 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo turned a corner, critics still are calling for Lance to be the starting quarterback.

San Francisco 49ers podcast with Joe Hawkes: Will 49ers shop Garoppolo or will they hang onto him as Lance isn’t ready?

San Francisco 49er quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo who did not play in the 49ers last game on Sun Oct 10, 2021 in Glendale against the Arizona Cardinals is seen on the field at State Farm Stadium before the game (AP News photo)

On the 49ers podcast with J Hawkes:

#1 The 49ers who are on a bye week this Sunday and have lost three in a row and three games out of first place in the NFC West and have two injured quarterbacks have a lot to recover from going into next week’s home game against the Indianapolis Colts.

#2 On quarterbacks injuries Jimmy Garoppolo left calf soreness and Trey Lance twisted left knee will they get enough recovery time to get a start for next week’s game against the Colts.

#3 Garoppolo who missed week 5 and ranks 18th in passing in the NFL is he going to be commodity of sorts as the 49ers are rumored to be interested in shopping him or will they hang onto him because Lance isn’t ready yet?

#4 Lance who carried during the last game against in Arizona and got injured running the ball and head coach Kyle Shanahan and said one of many times that Lance isn’t quite ready yet to step into the starting role. Lance was 15-29, 192 yards, carried for 92 yards and threw for one touchdown.

#5 The 49ers are 17th place in total defense and place 11th in rushing and it’s unlikely that they will not not move up the scale to Super Bowl caliber numbers over their next 12 games anytime soon as the 49ers injuries of DeForest Buckner and Raheem Mostert are just too hard to replace at this juncture.

On the 49ers podcast with J Hawkes:

According to head coach Kyle Shanahan Garoppolo will rest for today’s game and Trey Lance will get the start .

#2 Garoppolo’s practice sessions if any has been very limited and Garoppolo has said that his calf injury still hurts to the point where he can’t push off and throw a pass.

#3 Shanahan said he wants to protect Garoppolo and George Kittle telling the media “sometimes you have to protect them from themselves” Shanahan said that Kittle is doubtful for today’s game in Arizona as well. What will it be like without Garoppolo and Kittle in the line up?

#4 Lance has looked good in practice and the few snaps he’s taken in the regular season how much of a test will this be with Lance being under center and starting the game against the Cardinals today?

#5 The Cardinals as a team that are a big test in of itself as they are 4-0 and quarterback Kyle Murray has been leaving defenses flat footed when he runs the keeper. Murray in Sunday’s last game against the Los Angeles Rams threw for 268 yards, two touchdowns and wasn’t intercepted and won the game convincingly 37-20. Missing some of the players to injuries will the 49ers be headed into a hornet’s nest today?

Lynch said Ford has looked well in practices and drills. Ford didn’t play in any pre season games and his expected to take 15-20 snaps during games in pass rushing plays.
