The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Pat Mahomes takes a seat on the field during the second half of action during Super Bowl LV against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sun Feb 7, 2021. Mahomes will need foot surgery the Chiefs announced on Tuesday. (AP News photo)

On Headline Sports with London:

#1 How much did distraction play a role in the Super Bowl for the Kansas City Chiefs. After losing tackle Eric Fisher, then the DUI auto accident with assistant coach Britt Reid, and traveling to Tampa Bay just less than 24 hours before game time on Saturday.

#2 The Chiefs announced that quarterback Patrick Mahomes will undergo foot surgery and had been suffering turf toe since the AFC Championship game against the Buffalo Bills. How much did the injury play a role in his performance?

#3 The Biden administration has offered the idea to delay the MLB season a month until vaccines have been distributed to the players. The administration was confident that all players would be vaccinated. The delay could cancel pre season games in Florida and Arizona and go right into the regular season starting the first week of April.

#4 The Biden administration isn’t the only ones asking baseball to delay spring training but the Arizona Cactus League earlier had asked MLB to delay playing games in Arizona which involves 15 teams due to Covid-19 concerns.

#5 The Sacramento Kings have been on a hot steak they have won six of seven games previous to playing the Philadelphia 76ers last night. The Kings during a three game losing steak had critics saying that Luke Walton was on the hot seat but the recent win streak appears to have given Walton some redemption.

Super Bowl LV podcast with London Marq: Players enjoy week away from media days; Brady oldest player to play in Super Bowl

A jubilant Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady after defeating the Green Bay Packers on Sun Jan 24, 2021 in the NFC Championship will be the oldest player to play in a Super Bowl in NFL history (for the win.com file photo)

On Headline Sports with London:

#1 London not having in person media days does take away the media’s opportunities to get in person perspectives from Super Bowl players in a socially distanced situation like this?

#2 On the other hand it’s safe to say the players certainly won’t miss doing media days and sitting and meeting with the press in person during Super Bowl week.

#3 Tom Brady at age 43 quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will break the all time NFL record for the oldest player to play in a Super Bowl what does that have to mean for Brady?

#4 Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo has set up defensive plays against Brady before when he was with the New England Patriots do you see his play calls being different against Brady since he’s now with Tampa Bay or Spagnuolo will execute plays based on knowing Brady’s habits?

#5 This game will be played in front of only 22,000 fans a limited amount of fans because of social distance concerns. The NFL wanted the Super Bowl to be played with some people in the stands so they can get some real crowd noise in stadium as opposed to piped in sound.

Headline Sports podcast with London Marq: Kings improved offense and defense could be the big difference for 2020-21 season

The new and improved Sacramento Kings led by De’Aaron Fox (5) seen in this Fri Dec 11 photo in Portland have the personnel that could push for post season. From all indications in pre season the Kings look like an improved team (AP News photo)

Headline Sports podcast with London Marq:

#1 It’s only the second exhibition season but after the Sacramento Kings split two games with the Portland Trailblazer in Portland and the Kings dominated for most of Tuesday night’s game against the Golden State Warriors at Golden One in Sacramento is the take away from that the Kings have improved and will be competitive?

#2 Bogdan Bogdanovic was dealt to the Atlanta Hawks after the Kings tried to deal him to the New Orleans Pelicans. Was it in the Kings plans not to hold onto Bogdanovic because he basically walked and the Kings really didn’t get anything for him.

#3 Last Sunday night the Kings after losing the first game of two to the Trailblazers handled the Blazers 121-106 and on Tuesday night the Kings dominated on offense and held the Warriors back on defense it’s exhibition but it could be a sign that they team is on the right path going into the season. The Kings De’Aaron Fox and Buddy Heild but lead the way in scoring.

#4 The Kings play the Warriors again on Thursday night at Golden One for the second game meeting. The Warriors have been focusing on their younger players to see what they can do, Warriors top shooters Kelly Oubre, Stephen Curry, and Andrew Wiggins provided some key offense.

#5 On Fox and Hield they both have a sense on scoring and getting that extra push for a win. They certainly got a drop on the Warriors early in Tuesday’s game.

Headline Sports podcast with London Marq: No cusTOMary handshake from Brady; How Obure and Wannamaker will workout for Golden State; plus more

On Headlines podcast with London:

#1 Lots of criticism towards Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady for not going on the field after the game for the customary handshake with the opposing quarterback this time with the Los Angeles Rams Jared Goff after Monday Night Football. Brady refused to shake the hand of Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles during week 5.

#2 Brady had this reputation as a nice person who contributes his time for charity and has opened his house up to the much criticized teammate and running back Antonio Brown but after shunning two opposing NFL quarterbacks twice after two games this season he’s starting to hear it from critics all around.

#3 The Golden State Warriors were hoping to have bolstered their roster adding guard Brad Wanamaker and Kelly Oubre Jr after what Warrior Stephen Curry calls after the injury to Klay Thompson “tragic for a guy as talented and hungry as Klay.”

#4 The Sacramento Kings nearly dealt away Bogdan Bogdanovic but now the team is trying to make him an offer. The Kings nearly dealt Bogdanovic to the Milwaukee Bucks but the Bucks acquired Jrue Holidy from the New Orleans Pelicans and Bogdanovic was up for bid as the Atlanta Hawks are vying for him at $72 million for four years. The Kings are debating whether to match that offer but some sources say that the Kings would better letting Bogdanovic go the Hawks because it allow salary cap flexibility around D’Aaron Fox, Marvin Bagley III, and Tyrese Halliburton’s salaries.

#5 On Monday the San Francisco 49ers signed quarterback Josh Johnson 34, as a practice squad quarterback and most likely won’t be on the active roster unless quarterback Nick Mullens is on the injured list. This is Johnson’s 14th NFL team and he has played in four different leauges, the UFL, AAF, XFL, and now the NFL.
