On the Raiders podcast with Tony Renteria:

#1 Tony, after losing three straight games it had to be a lot of weight off the Las Vegas Raiders (6-5) shoulders to get that Thanksgiving Day win against the Dallas Cowboys (7-4) 36-33.

#2 Tony, how much over the span of the three game losing streak did situations and departures of Henry Ruggs and Damon Arnette play into focusing on games for the team?

#3 On Thanksgiving Day going to Dallas after three straight loses critics didn’t give the Raiders much chances of winning but win they did they hung with them on on both sides of the ball for the whole game right down to kicker Daniel Carlson’s game winning field goal to win that game.

#4 For Raiders quarterback Derek Carr an afternoon of just staying in the pocket and getting rid of the ball and making his throws count going 24-39 for 373 yards, and one touchdown he really help guide that offense last Thursday.

#5 The Washington Football Team (5-6) had previously lost three straight games and then turned things around and have won three in a row they won their last game against the Seattle Seahawks (3-8) close as it may 17-15 does Washington pose a threat coming into Allegiant this Sunday against the Raiders how do you see this upcoming match up?

Las Vegas Raiders game wrap: Raiders snap 3 game skid edge Cowboys in OT 36-33

It took about a month for the Las Vegas Raiders to get the taste of losing out of their mouths with an overtime win over the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium in Arlington 36-33 on Thursday night.

You’d have to go back to Sun Oct 24th when the Raiders defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 33-22 when they last won a game. After that game they had a bye week lost two key players to unforeseen circumstances in Henry Ruggs and Damon Arnette during that week that could have knocked any team off the rails and make them miss an opportunity at post season.

The Raiders would lose three straight games to New York Giants, Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals. After that Bengals loss critics really wonder when the Raiders would win another game. The wait wouldn’t be long. The victory against the Cowboys on Thursday night really gave the Silver and Black some light in their playoff hope tunnel as it were and at least looking to start playing close to get within striking distance of their opponents.

The Raiders held the lead for most of the game and to come away with a win like this against the Cowboys on a Thanksgiving Day you’d have to go all the way back to 1968 proceeding that year the Raiders lost the next two Thanksgiving dates with Dallas but got back in the win column in overtime Thursday after Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson booted a 29 yard overtime field goal to get the Raiders over the hump for the three point win.

For the Cowboys the loss marks their third loss in games when they went overtime and this is the sixth overtime game in Thanksgiving Day history. One of the key reasons why the Raiders won this game is the defense played such a key role in the first three quarters of the game the Raiders held the Cowboys to a single digit in scoring for each quarter. Each time the Cowboys would get close to the red zone the Raiders would close the gap on them and force a turnover.

The other cause for the loss was the four pass interference calls that Cowboys cornerback Anthony Brown got while defending the Raiders. On the fourth interference call on Brown came in overtime that put the ball in great field position for Carlson to be able to kick the 29 yard winner and take the Raiders home.

Raiders quarterback Derek Carr also had a great afternoon under center throwing 24-39 for 373 yards passing getting one touchdown. Carr didn’t allow a turnover and held onto the rock when he got sacked two times. Carr avoided moving the chains and relied on his receivers including Desean Jackson whose made a difference. Jackson three catches for 102 yards and one touchdown.

The Cowboys falling against AFC West opponents like they did last Sunday to the Kansas City Chiefs 19-9. The Raiders jumped right in with a big lead in the beginning, keeping that lead all the way until almost the end of the game.

Carr had a tremendous leadership role in leading the team really the whole game in big third down conversions all game long. Jackson had a great game at receiver and seems to be fitting in really well with the Raiders in that one two tandem of wide receiver with Zay Jones. It seems to be working out at the wide receiver angle along with wide receiver Bryan Edwards who helped out with one reception and 12 yards.

The Raiders now will have ten days off and play the Washington Football Team (4-6) coming in to Allegiant Stadium in a real big game on Sun Dec 5th. For the Raiders who have their eye on trying to get a shot at post season. Washington had a four game losing streak going before winning two in a row against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-3) and Carolina Panthers (5-6). The Panthers being Washington’s most recent win.

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Rich Perez: Raiders do enough to stay ahead of Cowboys; Get OT field goal from Carlson for winner 36-33

Las Vegas Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson (2) kicks a 29 yard game winning field goal in overtime against the Dallas Cowboys on Thu Nov 25, 2021 at AT &T stadium in Arlington (AP News photo)

On the Raiders podcast with Rich:

The Las Vegas Raiders (6-5) kicker Daniel Carlson kicked the game winning field goal in overtime to just get the Raiders by the Dallas Cowboys (7-4) on Thanksgiving Day Thu Nov 25, 2021 36-33. It was a real nail biter the Raiders had just enough to stay ahead of the Cowboys throughout the game and got into overtime to get Carlson in good field position to boot the 29 yarder for the winner.

The win for the Raiders makes this their first Thanksgiving Day victory since 1968 the last time they won. This Thursday’s victory ended a two game losing streak and Thursday made it their third Thanksgiving game since 1968 as the Cowboys had won the two previous games.

The Cowboys Anthony Brown just couldn’t keep out of pass interference trouble. Brown’s pass interference help set up a field goal for Carlson. Brown would commit four third down pass interference penalties it no doubt was a factor in the Cowboys losing this game.

Las Vegas Raiders podcast with Tony Renteria: Are Raiders still shook over loses of Ruggs and Arnette?; Las Vegas goes to Dallas with three game loss streak Thursday night

Las Vegas Raiders head coach Rich Bisaccia yells instruction to the his players during Sun Nov 21, 2021 game against the visiting Cincinnati Bengals at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas (AP News photo)

On the Raiders podcast with Tony Renteria:

After the Las Vegas Raiders (5-5) winning two straight games going to back on Oct 17th and 24th vs. the Denver Broncos (5-5) and Philadelphia Eagles (5-6). Then there was the bye week of Oct 31st when Henry Ruggs III was arrested for DUI by death and Damon Arnette who posted a video of himself with a automatic weapon with a scope saying he was going kill a someone.

After the loss of those two players the Raiders are currently in a three game losing streak with loses to the New York Giants (3-7), Kansas City Chiefs (7-4) and the Cincinnati Bengals (6-4). You had to wonder if the team fundamentally is off track or still shell shocked from the loses of Ruggs and Arnette.

The Raiders host the Dallas Cowboys (7-3) Thursday night for a Thanksgiving contest. The Cowboys are going well they have won seven of their last nine games and lost their most recent game against the Kansas City Chiefs last Sunday 19-9. The Cowboys scores were just three field goals and Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was off throwing 28-43 for 216 yards, no touchdowns and two picks. Tony tells us how he sees this match up on Turkey night.

Las Vegas Raiders game wrap: Raiders drop third straight game 32-13; Bengals snap two game loss streak

The picture is worth a thousand words as Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Sam Hubbard (94) goes to recover a fumble by Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr (4) who is laid out which pretty much summed up the Raiders afternoon on Sun Nov 21, 2021 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas (AP News photo)

The Las Vegas Raiders (5-5) dropped their third straight game on Sunday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas to the Cincinnati Bengals (6-4) 32-13. For the Bengals they snapped their two game loss streak. Bengals running back Joe Mixon rushed for 132 yards and carried for two touchdowns to contribute to the Bengals offense.

The Bengals who had a bye last week came out well rested and had quite a fourth quarter scoring 19 points to pretty much put the game out of reach. The win also puts the Bengals right back in playoff contention in the AFC North.

The game was so out of hand for the Raiders that Bengals kicker Evan McPherson didn’t feel any pressure kicking field goals becoming the 13th kicker in NFL history to kick three field goals over 50 yards in a game. The Bengals defense did their job holding the Raiders to under 300 yards at 278 yards of offense the second time Cincinnati has done it against an opponent this season.

On offense for the Raiders the 278 yards of offense was their third lowest total for 2021. It was another rough afternoon for Raiders quarterback Derek Carr with 19 completions out of 27 attempts for 215 yards, one touchdown and an interception. The Raiders first half on offense was atrocious they scored a field goal only in each of the first and second quarters and got shutout in the third quarter giving them virtually no chance at all to catch the Bengals.

The Raiders had six chances to get a first down and couldn’t making it 14 straight non first down conversions over two games (see last week against Kansas City Chiefs). The Raiders after their former head coach Jon Gruden resigned back on Oct 10th after losing to the Chicago Bears 20-9 won two straight games against the Denver Broncos and Philadelphia Eagles.

lt was Nov 2 when former running back Henry Ruggs III was DUI and killed Tina Tinton of Las Vegas and was put under house arrest and soon released by the Raiders. Then on Nov 5th Raider cornerback Damon Arnette video recorded himself holding an automatic rifle with a scope threatening a fan on social media after posting the video on social media the Raiders general manager Mark Mayock announced Arnette had been released. Since that week the Raiders have been a struggling team.

The Raiders hope to turn things around this Thursday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington on Thanksgiving Day against the Dallas Cowboys (7-3). The Cowboys have won four out of their last six games but lost their last game Sunday to the Kansas City Chiefs (7-4) 19-9. A 1:30 pm PST kick off for the Raiders and Cowboys this Thu Nov 25th.

San Francisco 49ers podcast with Jeremiah Salmonson: Taking a look at whose available for Sunday against Dallas

San Francisco 49ers running back Raheem Mostert is expected back in the line up against the Dallas Cowboys on Sat Dec 19, 2020 in Irving TX (AP News photo)

On the 49ers podcast with Jeremiah:

#1 49ers running back Raheem Mostert could be available for Sunday morning’s game in Arlington against the Dallas Cowboys. Mostert underwent an MRI on his ankle. Mostert has been practicing just on a limited basis.

#2 Mostert has missed four games while appearing in three. Mostert has the high ankle sprain forcing him to miss those four games.

#3 After playing against Washington last Sunday Mostert was in pain than usual but 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said he should be ready for Sunday’s game.

#4 Center Daniel Brunskill practiced on limited basis with a sprained shoulder, Brunskill’s back Hroniss Grasu has a knee injury and can’t play, also on injured reserve right guards Tom Compton (concussion) and Colton McKivitz on the reserve/Covid 19 list. Tony Bergstrom is expected to be in the line up on Sunday.

#5 The 49ers will be starting quarterback Nick Mullens who had all sorts of issues against Team Washington last Sunday. Shanahan said Mullens will be under center but if the turnovers continue back up quarterback CJ Beathard would be ready.

San Francisco 49ers-Dallas Cowboys preview: Both 49ers and Cowboys looking to get back in the win column

By Jeremiah Salmonson

The San Francisco 49ers are coming off a week of mixed feelings. They took on Washington quarterback and former 49ers quarterback Alex Smith as he made his return to the bay after an injury. In the game itself, the 49ers didn’t show up the way they would like. They lost the game 23-15.

The Cowboys are also having an underwhelming season. It was a predictable loss Dec 8th to the Ravens. They fell 34-17. The Cowboys did get a huge victory last Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals 30-7. So, both the 49ers and the Cowboys are looking to get back on track on Sunday.

49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo could be nearing a return to action. Coach Kyle Shanahan said on Monday that Jimmy is at least a week away from returning to action. So, the quarterback for Sunday’s matchup will most likely be Nick Mullins.

George Kittle, a key piece to the 49er’s offense, also remains out due to injury.

The Cowboys are also dealing with some injuries of their own. Notably, Guard Zack Martin is dealing with a calf injury and could be gone the rest of the season. Ezekiel Elliot is also a little banged up but expected to play.

The game is set for 10 AM PST, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington on CBS. The 49ers are unable to play in Santa Clara County due to COVID restrictions.

San Francisco 49ers podcast with Jeremiah Salmonson: 49ers @ Cowboys game for Dec 20th moved to 10 AM from prime time Sunday Night Football package

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Andy Dalton’s (14) body language says it all another rough day on the field this time against the visiting Baltimore Ravens in a rough loss in Dallas on NFL Tuesday Night Football Dec 8, 2020 (AP News photo)

On the 49ers podcast with Jeremiah:

#1 The NFL moved both the Dallas Cowboys (3-9) and San Francisco 49ers (5-7) prime time game on Sun Dec 20th from 5:20pm on NBC. Sunday Night Football to 10 AM on CBS because both teams lost last Sunday hurting their playoff chances.

#2 The 49ers linebacker Fred Warner said he was disappointed with the change and was looking forward to playing the Cowboys in prime time but said “It is what it is”

#3 The December 20th game also would not have feature 49ers starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo or the Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott both who are injured.

#4 Team Washington (5-7) starting quarterback Alex Smith for this Sunday Dec 13th’s game in Arizona. Smith a former quarterback for the 49ers at 36 years old has reinvented himself.

#5 Washington has won four straight including their last game against the Pittsburgh Steelers (11-1) 23-17 last Sunday which ended the Steelers 11 game undefeated win streak.

Headline Sports podcast with Jessica Kwong: Jets showed some defense against Bills but still winless; Did Bucs knock Raiders off their momentum?; plus more

The New York Jets defense was full of surprises last Sunday against the Buffalo Bills holding Buffalo to only 18 points despite losing 18-10 (photo from syracuse.com)

On Headline Sports with Jessica:

#1 The New York Jets (0-7) are the laughing stock of the City of New York but yet the Jets head coach Adam Gase says he has a game plan each week. Last Sunday might have been their best game although they lost 18-10 to the Buffalo Bills (5-2) in terms of playing a good defensive game.

#2 The Las Vegas Raiders (3-3) were coming into last Sunday’s game with lots of confidence they were coming off a close seven point loss to the Buffalo on Oct 8th, then the following week Oct 11th they dominated the Kansas City Chiefs (6-1) in KC, had a restful bye week on Sun 18 but got raked at home by the Tampa Bay Bucs (5-2) 45-20 behind Bucs quarterback Tom Brady’s four touchdown afternoon.

#3 The San Francisco 49ers (4-3) who lost two tough games against two teams who were struggling the Miami Dolphins (3-3)  and the Philadelphia Eagles (2-4-1) but came but strong against the Rams (5-2) and Patriots (2-4) for two straight wins. The 49ers face the Seattle Seahawks (5-1) looking at the NFC West that’s a real tough division to win games in as the 49ers head to Seattle this Sunday.

#4 The other day Dallas Cowboys (2-5) owner Jerry Jones was on live radio at 105.5 The Fan and told the host to “shut up a moment and let me answer” after he felt he was being interrupted by the host. How much of that is frustration out of losing quarterback Dak Prescott for the season and having lost to Washington 25-3 last Sunday?

#5 The Houston Texans (5-1) announced on Wednesday that they have closed their training facility due to a positive Covid-19 test from second-year offensive guard Max Scharping . The Texans said that the facility will remain closed for deep cleaning and they will take advantage of the bye week on Nov 1st and test players and get the facility ready for their next game Nov 8th against the Jaguars (1-6) in Jacksonville.

Headline Sports podcast with Tony Renteria: Raiders coming off bye week all set for Tampa Bay; 49ers Garoppolo and Pats Belichick reunion

The Las Vegas Raiders fullback Alex Ingold (left) trying to make the catch against cornerback Rashad Fenton (right) in the second half of Sun Oct 11th’s game during week 5 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City (AP News photo)

On Headlines podcast with Tony R:

#1 The Las Vegas Raiders (3-2) are coming off a bye and a week before a huge win against the Kansas City Chiefs (5-1) 40-32 in Kansas City a game people are still talking about going into week 7 for the Raiders.

#2 For Raiders quarterback Derek Carr it was a career afternoon executing 347 yards and throwing for three touchdowns against one of the best defensive pass rushes in the NFL the Chiefs.

#3 Tony after the San Francisco 49ers (3-3) got clobbered by the Miami Dolphins (3-3) at Levis Stadium in week 5 by final a of 43-17 things were looking doubtful but in week 6 against the LA Rams (4-2) the Niners made a huge turn around with a commanding 24-16 win what was the difference in the two games?

#4 For 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo a great afternoon keeping the 49ers in with 268 yards and three touchdowns and kept out of turnover trouble with no interceptions.

#5 Tony talk about the NFC East a lot of people say the division just simply shouldn’t be in the NFL. At one time one of the elite divisions in the league now it’s hard to believe the Cowboys who are 2-4 and have a dysfunctional locker room sit at the top of the NFC East with the Eagles (1-4-1), Giants (1-5) and Washington team (1-5) all struggling to win a second game.
