#1 The Dallas Stars just got by and escaped elimination with  3-2 double overtime win over the Tampa Bay Lightning as the Stars cut the Lightning’s series lead 3-2.

#2 In the first period the Dallas Stars Corey Perry (4) scored at 17:52 making it 1-0.

#3 Tampa Bay Lightning’s Ondej Palat (11) in the second period tied it up at 4:37 1-1

#4 In the third period the Lightning’s Mikhail Segachev (3) scored at 3:38 as Tampa Bay took the lead 2-1. The Stars Joe Pavelski (13) scored at 13:15 to tie it up once more 2-2.

#5 In double overtime the Dallas Stars Corey Perry (5) scored at 9:23 for the win 3-2

#1 Len the Chicago Blackhawks Patrick Kane says the qualifiers are like March Madness how much similarity do you see the two having side by side.

#2 One of the things that Kane said is that the “Hockey All Day”format had the March Madness feel to it playing hockey from morning till night. Adding that you can watch six games in one day.

#3 The Pittsburgh Penguins Syd Crosby left after scoring a goal with 15 minutes left in a scrimmage game on Saturday for undisclosed reasons. The Penguins Conor Sheary said it was for maintenance reasons saying it wasn’t anything.

#4 The New York Rangers Kaapo Kakko says that his type 1 diabetic condition will not prevent him from returning to the ice and he’s not worried that there is a chance that he could contract severe Covid-19. He said his being so young (19) that is diabetic condition is alright right now.

#5 Caleb Jones of the Edmonton Oilers had to self quarantine two weeks before the Oilers camp before returning to practice. Jones said he considered himself lucky that he was healthy and ready to return to the ice.

#1 How crucial of a decision was it for the NHL to decide to play all of it’s post season games including the Stanley Cup Finals in both Canadian cities of Edmonton and Toronto?

#2 Edmonton and Toronto has done such a great job with flattening the curve while the US leads the world in Coronavirus it made the choice easy for the NHL.

#3 Vancouver was a city that was in the running for being a hub city but the political concerns amongst Vancouver’s political leaders thought the better of it as Vancouver has kept the Corona flat lined and wanted to keep it that way.

#4 Len talk about the best of five series and round robin games in the two Canadian hubs

#5 To add extra excitement for this NHL post season the Edmonton Oilers Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl will be a couple of hometown favorites in the playoffs. Both were at Friday’s morning skate to add to the excitement of the return of hockey.

#1 With the recent discovery of three Tampa Bay Lightning players testing positive for Covid-19 and Austin Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs also found positive the NHL looks as if they will still move forward anyway to get training camp going and eventually start the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs.

#2 The Lightning are under scrutiny as they will be going through testing as the team facility will remain shut under orders from the team medical staff and NHL. The phase 2 rules of reopening guidelines calls for facilities closed and players tested after a player(s) have been found positive.

#3 Julien BriseBois, General Manager of the Lightning asked the Tampa Bay community to lower the curve as the state of Florida has been averaging around 3,000 cases a day of Covid by hand washing, face masking, and social distancing.

#4 With just this sampling of positive cases in the NHL will the NHL have to re-evaluate whether or not it’s such a wise idea to proceed with trying to start the Stanley Cup Playoffs or not?

#5 The name Sockeyes is leading in the polls amongst fans by 140,000 votes over the second place name Totems for Seattle’s newest NHL team name, however team CEO Tod Leiweke has said this is not the right time to unveil the new name because of the protests regarding racial injustice and Covid-19 shutdowns in Seattle. Leiweke said there is plenty of time to announce the new team name saying the organization is not tone deaf to these important issues.
