Barracuda push game to a shootout but ultimately lose to the Silver Knights 3-2

The first of back to backs against Henderson did not go San Jose’s way as they lost in a shootout 3-2.

The goaltending matchup in tonights game was between Eetu Makiniemi and Laurent Brossoit.

As far as physicality things picked up quickly as just 3:16 in Jeffrey Viel and Kyle Marino dropped the gloves.

Less than ten minutes later the offense kicked in for Henderson as Colt Conrad intercepted a pass and sniped one past Makiniemi to make it 1-0.

That goal ended up being the only one of the period as the shots finished at 13-10 in favor of the Barracuda.

Less than ten minutes into the second San Jose tied it up as a Henderson defender turned it over behind his own net and Andrew Agozzino capitalized on it.

After the goal San Jose took back-to-back high-sticking penalties though both were killed off by the PK unit.

The shots at the end of the second finished in favor of Henderson at 24-19.

Henderson’s offense got off to a quick start in the third as just 2:53 in Gage Quinney scored on a power play to get his 18th of the season.

Later on in the third Spencer Foo took a penalty for holding putting San Jose on the power play.

The PP unit stuck quickly for the Barracuda as a pretty passing play lead to Agozzino scoring his second goal of the game.

That goal ended up being enough to force it to OT with the shots finishing at the end of the third at 29-26.

In overtime San Jose ended up controlling most of the play registering three shots on goal but were not able to score.

With no goal coming in overtime the shootout ended up being required as San Jose elected to shoot first.

All of San Jose’s shooters missed and Brendan Brisson scored for Henderson to get them the win in the shootout.

San Jose’s next game will be against Henderson on Friday on the road at 7 p.m.
