On the Raiders podcast with Rich:
#1 The Raiders trimmed their roster by three players to get to the 80 players which included wide receiver Marcell Ateman, defensive tackle Darius Stills, and put veteran linebacker Darren Lee on the injured reserve list.
#2 With the three recent cuts head coach Jon Gruden will have the tough task of trimming the roster further and that could come as early as after today’s practice or after Sunday’s game against the 49ers.
#3 The Raiders have expressed interest in linebacker KJ Wright who also is open to offers from the Seattle Seahawks if negotiations work out. Wright who is currently unsigned is leaning towards Seattle but if that falls through the Raiders have expressed some interest. Either way Wright will land somewhere.
#4 Rich, last Sunday night was a night that rookie cornerback Nate Hobbs won’t forget he was all over coverage and his best play was when he leaped over the Seahawks receiver TuTu Atwell to grab an interception. Coach Gruden is so happy with his work that Hobbs will play all or most of Sunday’s game against the 49ers.
#5 For the second consecutive pre season game Raiders third string quarterback Nathan Peterman started and played the entire game. Throwing 16-24 for 172 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions last Sunday against the Rams. With Derek Carr skipping pre season games and back up Marcus Mariota resting an injured leg do you see Carr and Mariota getting some time against the 49ers this weekend or will Peterman get most of the time under center?
