San Jose State’s woes continue as No. 20 Nevada eases to 80-67 victory

Radio broadcaster Justin Allegri set the scene for the unbalanced San Jose State Spartans vs. Nevada Wolf Pack game Wednesday night at the Lawlor Events Center in Reno, Nevada. The lopsided matchup was broadcasted live on ESPN3 and KLIV 1590 AM, but the Spartans’ storyline remained the same as they’re still looking for a conference win.

The ball was up in Northern Nevada, and the Wolf Pack took an early lead and never looked back. The Spartans, though, were affected by 13 turnovers.

Nevada hit 7-of-11 shots from downtown in the opening moments of the game, and San Jose State trailed the Wolf Pack 23-14 at the 11:51 mark of the first half.

Ryan Welage had 10 points midway through the first, but the Spartans continued to trail the Wolf Pack 30-22 with 7:30 left in the first.

The Spartans trailed the Wolf Pack 42-29 at the end of the first.

Both teams scored 38 points apiece in the second half. However, Nevada handed SJSU a 80-67 loss at home.

For the Spartans, Welage led all scorers with 22 points, nine rebounds and three assists. Oumar Barry scored 12 points, one rebound and one assist. Jalen James had 11 points, three assists and two rebounds. Jaycee Hillsman had eight points, six rebounds and three assists. Keith Fisher III had five points, five rebounds and three assists. Noah Baumann had five points and three rebounds. Ashtin Chastain had just four points and four rebounds.
