In this April 8, 2017 file photo, MLB umpire Angel Hernandez (55) is seen in the first inning during a baseball game between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Cleveland Indians, in Phoenix. Hernandez, a big league umpire for nearly a quarter-century, sued Major League Baseball on Monday, July 3, 2017, alleging race discrimination. In a complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Cincinnati, Hernandez, 55, who was born in Cuba, alleges MLB chief baseball officer Joe Torre “has a history of animosity towards Hernandez stemming from Torre’s time as manager of the New York Yankees.”

On That’s Amaury’s podcast:

1 MLB umpire Angel Hernandez after filing a lawsuit against MLB for racial discrimination for not allowing him to umpire any World Series games since MLB executive Joe Torre assumed that top position in 2011 said Torre and baseball had discriminated against him. Baseball said that Alfonso Marquez of Hispanic decent got to umpire in the World Series in 2011 and 2015. Hernandez said that Torre was holding a personal animosity towards Hernandez since Torre’s days as a MLB manager and now this is Torre’s way of paying Hernandez back.

2 Yonder Alonso will be representing the Oakland A’s at the All-Star break in Miami, Alonso is on the trade block in Oakland and could very well be in a different uniform before the baseball trade deadline by July 31st. Alonso who grew up in Miami after immigrating from Cuba will be sharing many of his fond Miami memories during this All-Star break
