OAKLAND–A’s manager Bob Melvin was looking for A’s starting pitcher Jharel Cotton to have some success against the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday night at the Oakland Coliseum but all for not as Cotton went five, surrendering eight hits, and  seven runs. So far this year Cotton has been in and out, when he’s good he’s good. When he’s bad he’s been getting knocked around and his ERA is 5.58. The A’s are a little concerned about him and their trying to decide whether to send him down to Nashville to get a little bit more consistent.

Cotton has been able to dodge the bullet so far this year and in his last start on Tuesday it was no time to give up a home run to Albert Pujols who hit his 596th home run of there is no question Pujols will end up a Hall of Famer when he retires. Cotton also gave up a home run to the Angels Ben Revere for his second home run of the season and Revere has seven home runs for his entire career. Also in the third inning Cotton gave up a three run homer to the Angels Yunel Escobar.
