 COMMENTARY:

The United States has never won the WBC, however they do have an excellent roster this season, the Dominican Republic will be defending their title in 2013.and are the favorites to repeat, Puerto Rico, has a very strong team and Mexico could be very tough with their pitching. Cuba is the wild card, as well as Japan(their players are not well known in the US, but should never count them out). Cuba does not allows defectors to play in the WBC, Yoenis Cespedes(Mets)who played for Cuba in 2009 (before defecting)will not be able to play, as well as all Cubans in MLB rosters, his younger brotherYoelkis(19) will be playing for the Cuban team. Recently Japan has not sent many of their stars to the United States, and most of their roster in this classic are well known players only in the Japanese leagues.

 NEXT: SPRING TRAINING

Most clubs open their Spring Training Camps next week in Arizona, the Cactus League, 15 teams including Oakland Athletics in Mesa and San Francisco Giants in Scottsdale. The other 15 teams train in Florida, the Grapefruit League. Some players on major league rosters, who are playing at the WBC will report late to this year;s Spring Training.
