The Kansas City Royals are leaving little doubt about being the dominating team, the Royals jumped on the New York Mets with early leads and they did so in big hitting fashion with a 7-1 six run game two victory on Wednesday night. The Royals take the two game lead back to New York and the pressure is all on the Mets to get back into the fray but it’ll take a lot of catching up to do.
Game one took 14 innings on Tuesday night in the Royals 5-4 win on an Eric Hosmer sacrifice fly to right that scored Alcides Escobar from third for the winning run in the 14th. The win set the Royals confidence in motion and they rampaged the Mets in game two with the six run win. Royals pitcher Edinson Volquez had a great outing in game one going six innings, six hits, three runs, three strike outs.
Unfortunately for Volquez he found out about his father passing away in the Dominican Republic after game one. Volquez’ father passed while Volquez was pitching game one at age 63 he died of heart failure. Volquez left immediately for the Dominican right after the game to be with his family.
